Leonard C. Lopes Memorial Park Improvements.

The joys of the outdoors can be expanded upon by the simple maintenance of a good park. Leonard C. Lopes Memorial Park in East Wareham, Massachusetts is a family favorite for the locals around the area. Offering a fantastic place to play and hang out, the park has plenty of free parking and large playgrounds for kids to enjoy. In addition to the amenities for the children, the park offers a  wide range of walking trails and beautiful scenes that everyone can enjoy.

Built in memory to local legend Leonard C. Lopes, this playground and park is every bit as important to Wareham as its namesake is. Scoring a point in every single game in the 1960 season is no small feat, and doing so while playing in nearly every position while leading the team to a perfect seasonal record would definitely be enough to get a local park named after you, and fortunately for everyone, the park is as impressive as the player. The park holds a special place in the hearts of local residents, as many of them hold fond memories of taking their children and grandchildren to this park. Over the years, it has seen some disappointments, but through the work and dedication of the locals, they have sustained the park that has mean so much to them.

Boasting a beautiful castle-like playground that is sure to ring a couple of nostalgia bells, the immense wooden structure is complete with metal slides, wooden bridges, and swings to match the unique pointed tips that give the same vibe as some castles of old, making it quite easy to fulfill every kid's dream of living in the medieval times. The beauty of the playground is not lost on adults, however, as many will see the structure and wonder where this was in their own childhood. Yes, being so close to such an amazing park and playground is a blessing the locals surely appreciate.

This appreciation has manifested itself in Wareham, Massachusetts own desire to see improvements to the local staple. They have put out a bid for qualified contractors to do site preparation, removal of existing material, installation of a new parking lot and sidewalks, painting of two basketball courts, resurfacing of a baseball diamond, and more, all in an effort to keep this park functional and fun for the foreseeable future. After the work put in by locals to cleanup and fix some of the structures in past years, the City is asking for improvements the locals cannot reasonably give, all in efforts to maintain the beautiful park and pay respect to one of the best multi-sport athletes and football legends of their school history.
